Nada India’s Healthy Campus Campaign Inspires Youth Volunteers in Maharashtra

Pune/Sangli, April 2025 – Nada India Foundation’s Healthy Campus Campaign continues to spark meaningful conversations across the country, with a recent expression of interest coming from Bhumi Wagh, a dedicated youth volunteer of Worship Earth Foundation in Pune. Following an insightful discussion with a Nada India team member, Bhumi was introduced to the Foundation’s practical approach toward drug awareness—emphasizing community-led initiatives such as waste audits and local assessments rather than focusing solely on substance use. The concept of framing awareness efforts as Health Camps or counseling sessions led by life coaches resonated deeply with her and her peers. “I found the idea of encouraging local communities to assess their surroundings—such as checking dustbins and understanding their consumption patterns—both practical and insightful,” shared Bhumi. She has since brought these ideas to her team at Worship Earth Foundation, who are now keen to explore similar campaig...

What Crime Have These Families Committed? .....

In politics and administration, the touchstone of leadership is compassion. This quality was displayed by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar when he announced ₹4 lakh as ex gratia for the families of those who died after consuming spurious liquor in the state. Despite the tragic deaths of over 26 people in East Champaran district, Kumar initially declared that no compensation would be given, emphasizing that those who consume alcohol “will die” and urging against drinking. However, the pressing human dimension of the crisis prompted him to extend assistance to every affected family.  In parallel, the recent tragedy in Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi saw over 40 women widowed due to their husbands consuming methanol-laced illicit liquor.  The Madras High Court questioned the Tamil Nadu government's decision to award ₹10 lakh as ex gratia to these families, expressing concerns that such compensation might encourage the consumption of illicit liquor.
