Living is indeed Giving: #DaanUtsav @NadaIndia

LIVING IS INDEED GIVING Prof. T K Thomas 08 Oct, 2019 at 16:43 PM   "It has been an innovatory experience for Nada India team to conduct a preventive health camp at the IOC pump. Volunteers offered a gentle massage therapy on ears of commuters and drivers for relaxation and put a magnetic bead for balanced driving. Cartoonist Abilash highlighted the theme of how families suffer when something happens to their loved ones and the presence of Harish Bhutani, national award winner gave a boost to Nada India campaign of alcohol prevention while driving. Daan Utsav and Giving Tuesday are collective opportunity of celebration of generosity for well being.” said Chairman of Nada India Foundation Suneel Vatsyayan   There appears to be no dearth of people “giving” their money and time for others who are in need. CIVIL SOCIETY STATEMENT: Time to Deliver .....Take a tougher stance on alcohol control

CIVIL SOCIETY STATEMENT ...... Nada India is a c o-signing organisation ,  Time to Deliver in 2018: Bolder Commitments and Action Needed to Reverse the Tide of Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health Disorders Wednesday 6 June 2018  The NCD Alliance and Nada India Foundation  welcome the Report of the WHO Independent High Level Commission on Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs), Time To Deliver, launched on Friday 1 June in Geneva, Switzerland, ahead of crucial negotiations for the United Nations High-Level Meeting on NCDs (UN HLM) taking place in New York this coming September. All evidence points to the same unpleasant reality: that if the current pace of progress continues unabated, by 2030 the agreed Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target...

T he draft document on minimum standard of care is inclusive and easy to implement. It will help hundreds of voluntary organisations running rehabilitation centres in Delhi to deliver much much needed services to patients and their care givers.  My comments/observations on the draft document are mentioned below (in  bold) :  1. The substance use disorders treatment and rehabilitation centres provides one or more of the following services :  I would suggest to please also add word "residential" services. 2. Acute Detox :  Drug overdose management may be included  (I understand that "Acute care" may include overdose  management  but adding this into service head wil...

Of these 1,35,000  [17%] are Indians! ] By: T.K Thomas,   Oct 24, 2017 Recently, an addiction prevention expert and activist  and chairman of NADA India Foundation Suneel Vatsyayan  who works on mental health issues was interacting with a large number of marginalized children in the Mangolpuri area of the National Capital organized by Dr.  A.V.Baliga Trust. As part of the session he showed them a recent television interview with popular Hindi film actress Deepika Padukune . The focus of the programme was on the screen diva’s experience and views on depression. The children reacted differently and one of their unanimous reactions was their consternation at a celebrity like Deepika suffering from depression. It was beyond their comprehension as to how such a leading actor and daughter of a former World Badmi...
