According to a new study commissioned by the WHO, alcoholism has been on the rise in many parts of the world, including India. About 16 per cent of the global population, which consumes liquor infrequently, can be described as binge drinkers. The study, which examined liquor consumption in 194 member countries of the WHO, found that the consumption was the highest in Europe, though the level has remained static for the last five years. Students and teachers of CSKM Public School, Satbari, Chattarpur, celebrated World Health Week in association with the Naz Foundation(India), Nada India Foundation and World Health Organisation. Students from Std III to XII involved in various activities like an Interactive programme on HIV and AIDS, painting competition on the theme “My Delhi ! Healthy Delhi!” , oral health campaign by Dr. Raghavendra Jaiman, and a session on “Health and winning habits” by Monica Menon, Asiad player, were held. The theme of this year was “Anti-microbial Resistance: no action today, no cure tomorrow!” Students had an interactive session which dealt with issues like how AMR (Anti-Microbial Resistance) hampers the control of infectious disease, how it is a threat to the pre-antibiotic era, and the increase in cost in health care due to AMR.  http://www.thehindu.com/life-and-style/kids/article2023242.ece  

Nada & ITYF join hands with CSKM school on the occasion of World Health Day

On the occasion of World Health Day 7th April 2010 Suneel Vatsyayan, Chairman,Nada India and member of Indian Temperance Youth Federation (ITYF) interacted with more than 200 children of 9th to 12th classes of CSKM Public School Satbari New Delhi and discussed issues related to harmful use of alcohol and appealed the Indian Government to support the Global Treaty to curb the Alcohol use. World Health Organization’s annual World Health Assembly is scheduled to be held in Geneva on May 17-22 this year. In 2008, India had requested the World Health Organization to declare October 2 — Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday — as the World No Alcohol Day. According to the WHO, two billion people worldwide consume alcohol and 76.3 million have diagnosed alcohol-related disorders. It causes more than 60 types of disease and injury and 1.8 million deaths a year, which represents 3.2 per cent of all deaths worldwide. Nada joins JAAGRITI- QUIT SMOKING CAMPAIGN at Amity University campus on World Health Day 2010

The closing ceremony of the Jaagriti Quit Smoking Campaign was held on 7 April, 2010. The chief speaker was Mr. Suneel Vatsyayan, Chairman, Nada India Foundation. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ajay Rana, Director, ATPC, Mrs. Pallavi , Dr. A. K. Srivastava, Director General, Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Dr. S. M. Paul Khurana, Director, Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Dr. Roumi Deb, Director, Amity Institute of Anthropology, faculty members of Amity Institute of Biotechnology and students.After the introductory speech, a play was performed by the students of the Dramatics Society of Amity Institute of Biotechnology.
