This article comes from Guidepoints News from NADA  Spring 2021  Issue.  Suneel Vatsyayan:  Year 2020 is important for Nada India for two reasons. First, this was the year Nada India completed 20 years of its existence. It was Dr. Michael O. Smith who introduced me to the word nada, a Spanish word meaning nothing. In Hindi, nada means primordial sound. During his numerous visits to India, we discussed how a patient is smarter than a therapist, and a virus is smarter than the vaccine, and students are smarter than the teacher – they all change faster than our interventions. This causes a gap and increases the service barriers. Thus, the policy and program focus needs to shift from disease control and management to primordial prevention and wellbeing. And so, Dr. Smith invited me to set up Nada India Foundation to promote barrier-free drug rehabilitation services and community wellness for behavioral health. NADA acudetox counseling workshop for alcohol and drug prevention at Mumbra Mumbai

NADA acudetox counseling workshop for alcohol and drug prevention at Mumbra. Clinical psychologist,academician from engineering department, Doordarsan ,house wives,NADA acudetox  leaders,specialist and assistants,Muslim priests, media experts joined the workshop and resolved to work collectively for drug and alcohol prevention .Nada India is committed to support the future meetings and actions at grass-root level.The workshop was facilitated by Suneel Vatsyayan. Nada India will be supporting three monthly meetings for community action and use of acudetox along with alcohol awareness in Mumbra and providing them needles as well.

Acudetox Counselling Camps : Community based non-communicable diseases prevention

Nada India organised Acudetox Health awareness camp on 5th April on the eve of World Health Day under supervision of Dr.Ajay Vats ADS of Nada India at Bapu camp Maandi Road South Delhi. Ms.Pratima Singh of Pehchaan Counseling Center run by Nada India provided acudetox counseling to women and adolescent girls of slum area apart from check ups and referrals. Peer educators will be visiting house to house to reach out these people for follow up and health awareness issues related to non- communicable diseases like cancer,hypertension ,diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Nada India aims to reduce risk factors like tobacco use ,alcohol,Physical inactivity and Unhealthy diet. Acudetox Counseling training  session at that National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India as part of 3 Months Certificate Course on De-addiction.
