Needs and priorities of People Living With Noncommunicable Diseases (PLWNCDs) in India during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic

Nada India Foundation as Governing Board member of Health India Alliance supported and  signed the  statement by PLWNCDs including the Healthy India Alliance (India NCD Alliance).  The statement was  submitted  to MoHFW, UNDP India and WHO Country Office for India.   A statement by PLWNCDs including the Healthy India Alliance (India NCD Alliance) PLWNCDs need special attention India has reported 785996 active cases as of COVID-19 with 65288 deaths and 2839882 recoveries (September 1, 2020; MoHFW website). If not, it might be a good idea to start now.    Research increasingly points to its benefits for personal wellbeing. It’s no accident that science journalists are touting this impact with  article titles such as “To feel good, do good.” The link between wellbeing and volunteering is substantial, beginning from  adolescence  and continuing all the way into old age. Under the banner of  positive youth development , studies show the positive effects of volunteering on teens. It translates to a lower likelihood of pregnancy or  drug use , and positive  academic , psychological, and occupational outcomes than non-volunteering peers. We  Nada India  volunteers ,members of  National Association of Professional Social Workers in India  (NAPSWI), Young India Network Good Health  appeal to authorities, public health professionals and public in general to bring a change in use of phrases “Physical distance” in place of “Social distancing”,   ...... The World Health Organization (WHO) has started using the phrase "physical distancing" instead of "social distancing" as a way to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus from people to people. I think it was over due, Young India Network for Good Health  welcomes this move as a step towards to bring back social wellbeing of People Living with COVID19 and their families suffering from social isolation. Ms. Thapliyal began the session by introducing herself and sharing how the lockdown initiated as a meassure to stop coronavirus from spreading is causing emotional and mental distress to her personally and how Nada India wants to use this time to create healthy headspace by providing a platform for people to connect and learn/hone a skill at the same time.
