One day Consultation on Migration

SDS-IPAC organized a “One day Consultation on Migration” on 26^th March 2011 in New Delhi.

The objective of the Consultation was to share the views of various organisations and groups working on the issue of migrants ‘rights and the process of migration within the country. The one day consultation was aimed to look at the strategies to upfront the issues of migrants, the poor labourers and unorganised workers, and bring in some new ideas, suggestions and proposals for pro active policy instruments at the national level and state levels.

A number of civil society organisations, human rights groups and public representatives participated from the states of Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra in the consultation.

Mr.Suneel Vatsyayan from Nada India spoke on this occasion and shared his experiences related to street children & women and underlined the importance of a National Policy on Migration.He also talked about the issue of stigma attached with migrants essentially in metro cities.

Acudetox Counselling Camps : Community based non-communicable diseases prevention

Nada India organised Acudetox Health awareness camp on 5th April on the eve of World Health Day under supervision of Dr.Ajay Vats ADS of Nada India at Bapu camp Maandi Road South Delhi. Ms.Pratima Singh of Pehchaan Counseling Center run by Nada India provided acudetox counseling to women and adolescent girls of slum area apart from check ups and referrals. Peer educators will be visiting house to house to reach out these people for follow up and health awareness issues related to non- communicable diseases like cancer,hypertension ,diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Nada India aims to reduce risk factors like tobacco use ,alcohol,Physical inactivity and Unhealthy diet. Nada India is committed to reduce risk factors among slum and urban village population through acudetox counselling camps.
