Department of Social Work, Central University of Jammu in collaboration with National Institute of Social Defence, Delhi conducted one day Capacity Building programme on Drug Abuse for the middle level functionaries of Police Department, J&K on 2nd Feb 2018

1.Role of Police in dealing with persons with substance use disorder: Focus on legal provisions, reformation of drug addicts and protection of society.
2. Drug De-addiction Rehabilitation and Counselling: Role of Development agencies.
The session was interactive and thought provoking. He emphasized that the beat Constable is real social worker with authority having definite role in drug prevention and rehabilitation. He also visited and appreciated the efforts of Jammu Police in organizing the drug rehabilitation center in Jammu. Dr.Nancy and Prof.Vinay facilitated the workshop/

Acudetox Counselling Camps : Community based non-communicable diseases prevention

Nada India organised Acudetox Health awareness camp on 5th April on the eve of World Health Day under supervision of Dr.Ajay Vats ADS of Nada India at Bapu camp Maandi Road South Delhi. Ms.Pratima Singh of Pehchaan Counseling Center run by Nada India provided acudetox counseling to women and adolescent girls of slum area apart from check ups and referrals. Peer educators will be visiting house to house to reach out these people for follow up and health awareness issues related to non- communicable diseases like cancer,hypertension ,diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Nada India aims to reduce risk factors like tobacco use ,alcohol,Physical inactivity and Unhealthy diet. Nada India is committed to reduce risk factors among slum and urban village population through acudetox counselling camps.
