The Editor, Indian Express, Dear Sir,   I am writing in response to the published article on 25th August 2023 discussing the placement of anti-tobacco messages on Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms. While the article raised some important points, I believe there are aspects that warrant further consideration. Undoubtedly, tobacco's highly addictive nature demands stringent regulation, as highlighted by the The WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC).  The author's perspective, suggesting tobacco as an ordinary commodity, could inadvertently seem aligned with the interests of the OTT and tobacco industries. However, we must acknowledge that the costs borne by consumers in terms of disease, premature death, environmental degradation, and soil erosion are far from ordinary. 18 मई कांगड़ा:   कांगड़ा के राजकीय  माध्यमिक विद्यालय भोगरवां में एनएसएस के सहयोग से नाडा यंग इंडिया नेटवर्क ने तंबाकू जागरूकता रैली निकाली। रैली के मध्यम से तंबाकू से हो रहे दुष्प्रभाव को मुख्य रूप से सामने रखा गया। विदित हो कि हर साल 13 लाख लोग तंबाकू के प्रयोग से अपनी जान गवा देते हैं। स्कूल प्रधानाचार्य कमल किशोर ने कहा की वर्त्तमान में स्कूल के आसपास 100 गज दायरे में तंबाकू उत्पादों को बेचना या खरीदना कानून के दायरे में आता है। कोटपा अधिनियम के तहत यह एक दंडनीय अपराध है। इसके लिए हमारे स्कूल परिसर में समय समय पर अनुपालन के लिए जरूरी कदम उठाते जाते हैं। श्री रिंकू ठाकुर एनएसएस यूनिट कॉमर्स लेक्चरर ने एनटीसीपी के बारे में बताया कि किया की भारत सरकार ने 11वीं पंचवर्षीय योजना के दौरान वर्ष 2007-08 में राष्ट्रीय तंबाकू नियंत्रण कार्यक्रम (एनटीसीपी) की शुरुआत की, जिसका उद्देश्य (i) तंबाकू सेवन के हानिकारक प्रभावों के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा करना, (ii) उत्पादन को कम करना था।  तम्बाकू उत्पादों की आपूर्ति,कोटपा अधिनियम के तहत तम्बाकू नियमो में मुख्य रूप से १०० गज दायरे में तंब...

  5 मई शिमला:  प्रदेश की हिमाचल सरकार द्वारा युवाओं के भविष्य के संदर्भ में तम्बाकू पदार्थों पर कर की बढ़ोतरी करने का सराहनीय निर्णय लिया गया है। राज्य सरकार द्वारा सीजीसीआर टैक्स 3 रुपए से बढ़ाकर 4 रुपए 50 पैसे कर दिया गया है। राज्य सरकार का यह कदम उनकी युवाओं के प्रति चिंता और स्वास्थ्य की प्राथमिकता को दर्शाता है । नाड़ा इंडिया यंग इंडिया नेटवर्क सरकार के इस फैसले का स्वागत करती है। यह भी आशा रखती है कि तंबाकू रोकथाम नियमों में आवश्यक संशोधन आगे भी जारी रहेगा।   विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन द्वारा हिमाचल प्रदेश में कराए गए 2013 सर्वे के आंकड़े बताते हैं कि राज्य में तम्बाकू सेवन कर प्रतिशत 16.1 है। जबकि धुम्रपान की व्यापकता 14.2 प्रतिशत है। धुम्रपान रहित तम्बाकू की व्यापकता देश में हालांकि 3.1 प्रतिशत के साथ सबसे कम है। वैश्विक वयस्क तम्बाकू सेवन द्वितीय सर्वे में पहले सर्वे की तुलना में आंकड़ों में तब्दीली आई है। सेकेंड हैंड धुएं के संपर्क से इस समय राज्य में 32.5 प्रतिशत लोग घरों में प्रभावित हैं। जबकि सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर 12  प्रतिशत । भारत में दुनिया में तंबा...
